Laptop DC Jacks

One of the most common problems for laptop owners over time is from rough handling of the laptop and pulling and pushing on your power jack, it can become loose. Once the jack becomes loose you may see problems such as the battery will not charge, or you may have no power to the laptop at all anymore. Usually when this happens, you can physically feel the jack is loose when you are plugged in and by feeling the play in the jack. This should be a solid connection and should not move at all.

Although a do it yourselfer could replace a DC jack on his or her own, it is best left to a professional to do this for you. Soldering and desoldering skills are needed to complete this job plus tearing down the laptop.

If you are skilled and mechanically inclined you may like to try it yourself. If so, below is the how to guide on replacing your laptop DC jack.
